Fairisle Knitting Day at Logie Steading!
If your looking to learn Fairisle or already have made previous projects using the technique then this workshop is suitable for you!
During the Fairisle knitting day where I will go through the basic elements of fairisle knitting so if you can cast on/ off, knit and purl confidently then this is all you need to know to be able to attend I will teach you the rest. Or if you have a project in mind that you would like help with then I will work one to one with you on your pattern of choice to help you get started or any elements you are stuck on. Please bring this pattern along and the yarn required.
Through out the day I will demo certain techniques for you to watch and learn and then work with you one to one so you can get tailored help and support.
You will also learn how to stand two colours at a time using specific techniques and how colour is so importantly put together in fair isle knitting. We will use Shetland yarn to create a FairIsle headband. You will learn how to read fair isle charts, whilst knitting in the round. I’m this one day workshop your get to practice your newly learnt technique and get to start on your headband pattern that is designed exclusively for this workshop by me - Sophie from Forest and Dot.
This workshop is suitable for those with basic knitting knowledge, and can knit, purl, rib, cast on and off confidently and are looking to start out on their fair isle journey.
Shetland yarn is included in the price for you to use throughout the day and make your headband but please bring one pair of circular needles, 40cm long and 3.25mm needle size.
The Fairisle knitting day is not only about learning new techniques but it’s a chance to meet likeminded folk, cosy up and start that much needed autumn knitting project and I’ll also have hot drinks on tap with lots of shortbread and sweet treats to keep us fuelled.
Saturday 17th October from 10-3pm at Logie Steading, Forres
